Getting a grip on your Peanut

Hey guys,

This is one for folks who keep a bandana with their peanuts. One of the down sides of the peanut is it can cause hand strain due to prolonged cutting. Here is what I do when I have to cut a lot and caught with nothing but a peanut and a bandana. I would take my bandana and fold it into a strip roughly wide as the length of the handle of the peanut. Then, tightly wrap the handle of the peanut with the bandana. If a rubber band is handy, wrap a rubber hand around the bandana for a class A handle. It is very important to wrap the handle tightly. Otherwise, the handle could move during cutting.
This method upgrades your three finger grip to a full grip on the peanut. When a bigger knife is a not around, it could be a real blessing. This and be really help if it is cold, wet or wearing gloves. Feel free to add and critique .

God Bless

Nice Idea!

I might just have to start carrying a bandana again... The peanut has become my go to knife for eveything lately(although i am still carrying a russlock if I need more steel, I don't need to)

little suckers realy are enough blade for 99% of things, by yeah the handle can be lacking.

I don't like to have anything between me and my peanut!:D

I know what you mean, JK. Heck, the title of this thread alone was enough for me to wonder how fast we'd be traveling down the slippery slope to "the Cove". ;)

Fortunately, we (seem to) have a higher class of folks populating this sub-forum. (Present company excluded.) :p

sorry to derail/hijack, but case doesn't list blade dimensions on the site and I am lining up my next purchase. Will someone (at your earliest convenience) please post the blade lengths for the stnd delrin model? (Are all current 07' / 08' case are the same lenghts/configs? Some of the upscale models with inlays are of interest as a gentlemans knife.)

I thought about getting some rubber hose pipe or something that would fit on to the end of the Peanut to extend the grip. Kinda like they do with a snooker cue on shots they can't reach....Know what I mean?

You could carry it in the pocket until needed with the knife, and use it as a fire starter in emergencies.

1. "Uh-Oh" Pink Lemonade, Dr. Pepper, RC , or any other "favoritest" beverage onto Peanut.

2. "I Sorry" , Strawberry Jam, Blackberry Jam, Grape Jelly , or whatever you prefer when making Peanut Butter & Jelly Sammichs.

3. "Did you have to drop the Peanut Into?" Tin cans of homemade Maple Syrup or Sorghum molasses.

4a. "Gimmee my chocolate"
4b. "Come and make me"

Chocolate candy bars in hot, humid conditions.

5. "Dawg Slobber".
I have no idea what all in is dawg slobber, but it heals cuts, scraps, and Black Lab slobber sure makes a Peanut Grippier...

Been there, done that, and used my handkerchief/ bandanna, to wipe hands and knife.

*smile*

I carry a bandana with my Peanut, but don't use it WITH my Peanut. I have been practicing alot on different ways to hold and use the tiny cutter, and I have done a variety of chores with it, and I have to say, I don't have a problem with it. I guess it's just a matter of getting used to. As I said in another thread, I use my Peanut more then any other knife, so I am used to holding and using it. I am trying to master it, if that makes any sense. But hey, if some need a bandana to lengthen it's handle and improve grip, by all means give it a go.

My favorite peanut is a Prime Stag Case which has fairly thick slabs that swell out and make it easier to hold. Steven
