Hi All. The wheels are in motion. Yesterday I started to sell off my knives. I will keep TWO Folders and FIVE fixed blades. The rest GO! I want and will get grip on the knife-thing. Balance is good...for me.

You're my hero. :D

But seriously the market it a little soft right now,
you may want to wait for a little closer to Christmas.

That would seem to be good advice.

But ... sometimes you have to go when your will is ready.

I just did an inventory of my knives and was surprised to learn I have about 100. I would have guessed half of that. I definitely don't need that many, so I'm committed to do some deaccumulation myself.

But I don't think I could pare it down to 7 at this point. Maybe 20-25 or so.

Gents, thanks for the advice.
My wife, aka:momma, made me realize that I was going overboard with the knives. Momma told me to count my knives and I couldn't believe how many I had accumulated! Time to prioritize!

Now is not the time to sell, unless you have something rare or "hot". I would hold onto them, you're going to miss them soon enough.

Or, you could give them away ;) hint hint :D.

STS---VERY funny.
I actually just sold a Mission MPF Ti and a Bradburn Shobu Necker.

Conrats on getting a grip on things, I think that’s healthy.

I am actually done buying knives for a while. There are one or two other knives I want, but otherwise, I pretty much have what I want from what’s out there. I tried several different brands just to see what they were like. I spent a lot this year on the knives I have always wanted. Not much left that interests me.

As far as the market being soft right now, well everybody better buck up ‘cause it’s going to get a lot softer as the economy tanks. We ain’t seen noth’in yet. The lifesyles of the rich and famous Americans is just about over.

My advice: Sell now.

For those who don’t have what they want yet, buy something soon.
I hear Lycosa has some nice blades for sale.:D

I think you should just keep one. I seem to recall seeing some threads about 'If you could only have one knife...'. Maybe you should study those :D

I went through the same thing a while back... It had gotten to the point that there was no satisfaction in having them.
So I went through all of them, and picked the ones out that I was really fond of and or had some attachment to.

I sold probably close to 2/3's of the knives I owned. I can honestly say, with the exception of a few of them I haven't missed them...

I'm slowly getting back into picking up a few knives, and it is actually fun again.

You'll sell them all except for the few. Then you'll see that one knife that you must have. Next thing you know you'll be back to where you started. :D At least that's what happened to me when I decided I did not need all these guns.
