Getting a Mini Griptilian - Cabelas D2 or Ritter?

I know that the Ritter cost a little more. I do not know a lot about steel, but know that both the D2 and CPMS30V are both good steels (or should I just save some money and get the 440C). So what are the major differences between the two steels? Also, can anyone comment on whether they like/dislike the different blade shape of the Ritter vs. the D2 Mini Grip? Feedback on the different blade styles is what will help me make my decision. And, I went to a gun/knife show today and am glad that I got to handle both the Mini and Full size Grips because I really feel as though the Full size Grip is just too big and chunky for EDC! So now I am set on a mini grippy. Thanks

I have a Mini Ritter Grip. I got it because of the blade shape, it has more width, which is what I wanted. With this width you get a higher grind so it is a better slicer. I also like the stonewashed finish on the blade, real cool.
The S30V blade is simply the best.

Throw this thread into the trash, if you like a more pointed tip, it is not.

I prefer D2 steel...so Cabela's version is what I own and use. Both the Grip and the Mini-Grip.

for the price, id go with the d2 from cabelas, ive been tossing around the idea of getting one even though i just got a native for my edc:D

That is a tough question!! I would get the Ritter, as I really like S30V.

Here's a photo of my Cabela's D2 Mini. I don't have the Ritter (yet), but will probably get one eventually. I'm very happy with the D2 Mini, and might order a full size one from Cabela's.

Cabela Fullsize in D2: $79.99
Ritter RSK Mk1 in S30V: $104.95

For me it is well worth another $25 to simply not have to worry about rust AND get a real nice blade geometry with the wider chord of the Rittergrip. The S30V blade takes and keeps an edge very well. It is one of the lowest cost S30V folders you'll find (though some Spydercos come close).
