Getting a new frog...

Anyone know of anyone that does nice leatherwork that would make frogs?

I'm looking for one or a few thick-leather frogs like the Himalayan-Imports BAS. These are the split frogs that have two thinner loops.

The one on my village BAS is of thin leather, which is pretty much unnoticable on a normal frog, but looks kind of bad to me on the split frogs. And I figure if I'm going to get one, I may as well get a couple for my AK Bowies.

If you're not worried about "pretty", then maybe you could make one yourself (not saying that your work might not look good, it just probably isn't going to be on par with Terry's work;)).
I made a new frog for a 12" siru after removing the tool pouches behind the main blade. It's ugly as sin, but stong. I made it out of an old 2" wide leather belt. Take a piece of leather that is maybe an inch shy of wrapping all the way around the scabbard, take another piece of leather and sew a belt loop on the back, punch holes or grommet them, cut a few strips of leather thin and lace the puppy up. Done. Not pretty, but I have packed all over hell's half acre with no problems.
Good luck to you, friend.

You could make a frog yourself and it would look good. It's pretty simple. Look over what they are and there's not a lot to it. Use boot black or something to dye to taste.

Email Yangdu. She may have bits and pieces of kits. Nice lady who will try to help.

Unless she's disposed of it recently, there's a box full of frogs, kardas, pouches, etc. hanging around for just this sort of thing.

Now, if you want to get a new leather frog, (diff. color, diff. style) then your best bet is to go with Terry or make one yourself.

I'll be fitting some khukuris with a kydex-lined leather sheath with frog next week sometime. I'll take some pics "along the way" and post them here if you like. Or, you can just check out the tutorial I made. (http://www.kosterknives.com/tutorials.htm)

Pics of how to do stuff are always cool.

I'd rather not bother Yangdu. It's not defective and I knew what it looked like from the picture on the DOTD when I bought it.

I figured I'd look around for an upgrade. I may go all out and get one of those full 1849 rigs...

Thanks
