Hello folks,

I am looking to get three of my PE Spydies serrated, i contacted Spyderco and they do not do aftermarket mod's like this.

Who would be the best maker/modder to contact to see about getting this done:confused:

Thanks for any and all input anyone may have

don't want to sound rude but if the knives you wish to have serrated are still in production then buy them (or atleast 1) spyder edged. reason 1. plain edges are nice to have. reason 2. why wreck a perfectly functional knife.

I guess i should ask why you wish them to be serrated?

I'm lucky enough to have a few sets of the three CF Military knives, none where released in SE and i would like to have a set for my collection.

Nothing more nothing less

cool. one ? can you swap out one of the blades for a mili blade that is serrated. that way you have a serrated user and a pristine pe blade (for future sale)..... thats what i'd do (if i had a spyder edge mili as well) you could also buy a serrated mili user on the forum for the blade.

i really have no idea what i said, but makes sense to me

I would like to get my S30V, BG42 and S90V carbon fibre military's serrated.

The S30V would be the only one i could do a blade swap on and i don't want to buy another knife just to do that.

krein does a lot of spyderco regrinds doesnt he. Not sure if ive ever seen him do serrations. I would leave the bg42 and s90v as is and just do it with the s30v blade. You only need one to abuse really, might as well be the most easily replaceable one

I've hoarded four of each :o and would like a little bit more variety :D

I wouldn't be sacrificing them just expanding my variety FWIW

I can remember stumbling across a post on the spyderco forums over a year ago where IIRC Sal actually recommended someone who did custom serrations. It might be worth searching there if Sal doesn't chime in.
I'd be keen to know who does them too, as all the "super steel' sprints only ever get released in PE and I personally find SE edges more useful for me at work.

OH Dear Lord!!! I wish I knew of someone who could take a plain edge Spyderco blade and make it serrated with a Spyderedge ( or at least something very similar). I would love to have a Spyderco C-111 Captain and a Spyderco Superhawk both in SE.

I have other PE blades that I have in mind that I would like in SE. When I get back on my feet and start buying Spyders again I definitely would love to have a Temperance 2 in SE as well.

I can't for the life of me imagine why Spyderco wouldn't do something like that if someone is willing to pay the price for it

But again I would want a Spyderedged serration pattern. Because there are a lot of serration patterns that just aren't worth a hoot :(

I know that my ol pal Spydutch would be giving me a HIGH FIVE about now :D

Bumping this back up, still looking for someone who can put a Spyderedge on a few Plain edged CF Military's.

I agree with a few of the others: There are some incredible deals on serrated: A ZDP-189 Serrated E4 is selling for $59.95.

Krein charges 35-40 bucks for a full flat regrind, so adding some teeth would be at least as expensive.

Then you throw in $5 for return shipping, you're looking at $45 minimum. Is it worth that when for another $20 bill you could get a new ZDP E4?

I think you guys may be missing the point. The OP isn't looking for a serrated edge to use, but rather wants a serrated versions of the BG42 and S90V Military for collecting purposes. Just to have I guess. Correct me if i'm wrong, of course.

IIRC, Sal once mentioned the name of someone who does after-market serrations. Not sure if it was here, or on the Spyderco factory forum and even less sure how closely they'd resemble Spyderco factory serrations.
