I have a Seiko automatic Chrono from the Mid 1970's that I would like to get serviced. It runs, but not accurately. Can anyone suggest a jeweller who could fix and waterproof this watch? Thanks

Dear Professor Comet-

The hands-down best solution for work on an automatic Seiko movement is Mr. Bill Yao whom you can visit at MKII Historic Timepieces online.

He is an expert among experts and will get your watch up and running and looking like a million bucks. You could even use this maintenance opportunity to explore changing the markers, dial, or the chapter ring if you're so inclined. Mr. Yao has visited this forum and similar enthusiast websites. I've worked with him in the past to my complete satisfaction.

Hi Professor Comet-

As an aside, I know that Bill Yao works with a couple trusted suppliers to help with completion of refurbishment work. On his site you'll also find information for:
  • Industrial Watch Works (IWW)
  • Bob Thayer Watch Works
  • Northeast Watch Works
No matter how the work is divided among these folks, your watch will be returned to you BETTER than it was when new. It will be an absolute upgrade.

His MKII website says that he doesn't service watches.

"Mk II only customizes and assembles watches. . . .If your watch needs to be serviced please have it completed before sending your watch to Mk II for customization."

I went to that site and wrote him to see if he would service it for me. Will let you know what he says. Thanks

Hi All-

I revisited Bill Yao's MKIIWatches site and he is limiting his business to customization now. He success is obviously growing! He suggests sending the watch to one of his three partners (IWW, BTWW, or NWW all listed above) for repair. They will send him the repaired and refurbished watch for customization if desired.

You might want to check out "The Seiko & Citizen Watch Forum"...There are alot of watch-repair people who hang-out there.

Eric Martin is another person who's name is highly respected by the folks over at the Mil Watch Forum. I've personally sent him a Glycine that he had working perfectly in no time. You might want to drop him a line and see what he says about your chrono.
