I do enjoy the used look on stuff - knives, lights, everything. Im thinking coated alum scales do offer the best experience in this regard?

What do you guys think will look coolest and weathered in say 5 years?

Pics very welcome

yeah thats a nice one, but i personally enjoy the look of worn presidios & infidels more than crks. Dont have one thought.. yet.

Was wondering on other options.

940 classic will probably become cool looking with time.. got myself a micarta proper recently - should work out too. Other stuff in g10\frn wont wear in so much I suppose.

A problem too is with many knifes in constant rotation its kinda hard to get to that look :)

Yep yep. Having a rotation gives you a lot of knives with very little character.

I think it depends on the coating. My Socom Elite's coating is so tough that even after quite a bit of carry it's hard to spot signs of use.

Bead-blasted Ti, on the other hand, is like a scratch magnet. My Keen is acquiring character -- which I like -- much more quickly.

I like the look of well worn bead blast ti -as on the Sebenza. I haven't heard much of it recently but some used to put a Nuked( created a wear finish) finish on them
Flip side:
Stonewashed on the other hand hardly shows a mark after extended carry and use.

Ha good to know.. so zt 0095 off the wishlist.. While seb & presidios going up, infidels off the race being a scary illegal weapon in eu :(

Would really love to see pics of some users with style

Titanium scales that have been in the pocket get a nice worn look around the edges. I like the look of that.

I have a titanium clip on a pm2 and actually haven’t noticed any.. been carrying it for a year in rotation. while normal coated steel ones certainly begin to show wear on some others..

from my experience bare ti and stonewashed don't show much wear other than a little patina

Quality knife gets better with use. A junky knife just gets junkier.

I have and always will like dlc/pvd. It becomes a collage of marks and scratches that all work and blend together. And really like the wear on the edges that blend into the bare steel.

My PM2 has probably been used a little over a year of daily use I would estimate, maybe more.

And the Olight is aluminum with some kind of black coating/paint. But the pocket clip is steel and has been used daily for about 2 years. It was black when I got it and now is a gunmetal all over.

You rang? Lol, here she is:

I’ve got to take some new pics of this thing. There’s a little more wear since these were taken, but not much. She’s semi-retired.

Brass certainly looks great.

Aluminum also looks great, but if you ask me nothing looks better than a well loved old knife with well worn bone covers and a healthy patina on it's blade/s.

Combine that healthy dark park a with a fresh gleaming edge and it's a real thing of beauty.
