I ground the blades yesterday, I still have swedges to do but the main grinds are looking great!

S7 Recurves and A2 Tantos are also very close... I'm waiting on some sheath hardware and that's about it! I'll get some good pics soon.

That was a lot of metal removed... These are hollow chisel ground and the blades are very light considering they are .207" thick!

Looking good Daniel! Can you work faster please? Just kidding, you are working fast enough. We can all wait until the master says they are good enough.

Dang dude, those look awesome. Very mirrored!

Thanks! :D

They are mirrors for sure, I accidentally signaled a few planes while getting that pic. :D I'm really proud of the finish especially considering that is CPM-D2 right off the grinder at 600 grit.

I guess it has been a couple of years, that is kind of long for a knife run. :p :D

I need to finish lap the stop pins, grind swedges and after that it's time for signing, finishing and sharpening! I expect to have some done within a week. (actual time, not knifemaker time)

I'm no Lorax who speaks for the Fairlys, but I think he's selling his first bunch of folders to folk who signed up for one like...~2 years ago? You and I may end up in the same boat; the one who waits patiently. or, hey, aftermarket :D

Here's some information!

Open - ~8.5"
Closed - ~4.95"
Blade - just under 3.5"

.207" thick CPM D2 Blade
.190" thick All Titanium Frames

Slicey hollow grind with swedge - Sharp! Double micro bevel
Ceramic Detent Ball
Phosphour Bronze Washers
Carbidized Lock Face
Stonewashed Blade

Rock solid lockup! Nice action but not a flick open action, strong lock and detent. I replaced the original detent ball with a ceramic one and think the new ball race needs a bit of breaking in. The ceramic ball wil be smoother and should last much, much longer than a steel one.

Obviously the sweeping statement that they may not all be the same, he may change it up because he's Daniel and he does cool stuff, etc. You get the idea :)

Man, those are going to be awesome!

Congrats to those that were able to score them:thumbup:

I think mine is number 4. One of the cool things about it that illustrates how stoutly it is built is this. When opening the knife and the detent ball clears the lock bar, just before the blade fully opens, the noise is as sharp and crisp as the sound any other knife makes when the lock bar itself snaps into place. (Hope this makes sense) So, when you open the knife all the way, there are two very distinct cracks, the first being the detent ball clearing the bar, the second being the blade locking into place. Very cool! No other knife I have, and some of them are pretty dang stout, gives the same tactile feedback the Fairly does.

Not bad. :D
Werz my Organic Black tanto blade, Mr. Fairly??

Thanks for sharing that story, Gary.

^ Some secret uber belts that pops will only sell to him :P
I'm pretty sure if Pop's only sold belts to Daniel he would still have a thriving business. :D
That reminds me I need to make an order......this is always expensive but I love the smell of new belts!:)

Looks great, Daniel! What 600 belts are you using?

Gator Belts by 3M, they are the "30" ones... I press super hard at first and then lightly for the last pass or two.

That means the most! :D Thanks for posting that.
