Made from 3/16 ths 1095 Rockwell hardness of 60. Both the curved blade and the chisel tip are razor sharp. The scales are different types of Rose wood. Contoured and provide a very secure comfortable grip. Off to the Gun and Knife show with them on Saturday. Thanks for looking Ken

Ye top one has a bit of handle protruding (index finder side) when gripped. Excellent for reverse hammer blow :)

In addition you might want to consider making the ulu slightly less 'protruding'/longer but making it wider. This is due to increased wideness protects more fingers in a punch. The length or amount protruding is related to the stability in hand when using to punch. To explain, if you imagine the ulu was far far pointier/longer then when making contact during a punch then it has the tendency to rotate in your hands. The shorter it is will increase stability. I understand that witha sharp ulu there is no stability issue when penetrating soft media however there may be times it will strike harder media hence the stronger reaction force.

Forget my input about the ring idea, I think it is unnecessary given the protruding handle when gripped and machining is a bitch. I also am in agreement with the chisel end, this orientation of chisel enables one to hook and pull if desired which is a great bonus in certain fighting styles.

I'm pondering how to make the kydex sheath for quick draw, may have an idea :)

You are getting very close :)

Yes the handle protrudes some by design. Also it can be held comfortably chisel end up or down due to the re-positioning of the blade. I have been doing kydex sheaths for a long time. The one pictured works left or right handed the blade inside or outside the belt. I really am pretty good at the sheath work.

Above noted Next week I am expecting some new steel so I will make one with a broader flatter blade. In terms of stability you are quite right.

I like to sculpt the Kydex into unusual yet functional forms.
