Over the past year I kept running into the term "Winterbottom". Trying to figure out what it was, I ran into this old thread from 9 years ago:

After looking into it, it seemed to me to be an iconic pattern of jigging that had definitely caught my eye. Though the golden age of this pattern may be over, there are still those out there that think it is important enough to keep it alive. I was fortunate enough to receive on for Christmas.

My maternal Grandfather was the one who gave me a love for Barlows, so I thought it was wonderful that it was my mother who gave me this one.

So how about the rest of you? Got Winterbottoms?

The post might have been talking about Bernard Levine's 1990 article. The full article on Winterbottom bone is worth reading. It's the 2nd article on the page linked below. The first article is on Roger's bone and also a good read.

Thanks for that link ! you helped clear up a misconception I had regarding the term Winterbottom.

It is a unique jigging pattern; I have two that I can think of - an old Delrin handled Queen and a 2006 Case large Barlow. OH

My one and only. At 4" and 4 ounces it's too big for my pocket but perfect in every way.

About four years ago I went to a gun show with a girl I'd just started dating. We passed by a table full of knives and I asked if any spoke to her. She picked up a Schatt and Morgan congress very similar to yours, Gary. I t was then I knew she was a keeper. Donna has been very patient and often helpful with my knife sickness.

Queen #51 Jack

And some GECs. I don't believe these were ever termed winterbottom but I believe they fit with the jigging pattern.
