I don't really know what to do right now... There is a knife I'm very much interested in purchasing on the forum but the seller is just ignoring my posts. I've taken to getting a fellow member PM him on my behalf as I don't have a membership. Kinda lost as to what to do as I'm set on getting my hands on it.

Well...

1) You have a membership, just not a membership that allows you to PM.
2) Sellers can sell or not sell to whoever they want for whatever (or no) reason.
3) Shouldn't this be in Good, Bad & the Ugly?

Yea I mistakenly put in the wrong forum. I'm the only one who has publicly posted on the posting, I mean I'd appreciate just a response at this point.

You can report your post using the black triangle with the ! on the lower left of any of your posts and ask a mode to move it for you!

As for getting the seller to sell to you? Outside of appealing to his or her greed....not much you can do. Beg? Ask real nice?

Thanks, getting used to using the site more :P

It could be as a fairly new member with no feedback and almost all of your posts in the exchange ... and so many horror stories with buying and selling knives recently ... that the seller just wasn't comfortable selling to a new member with no feedback and all but a few posts in the exchange area.

I can understand we were all new here once and deserve a chance ... but I can also understand reservations of dealing with members who only or mostly post only in the exhange ... instead of contributing to the forums in other areas.

It may just take some time and getting a bit more involved to put other members at ease to make deals.

I can get why the seller would be hesitant. You first mentioned you're in Canada and would drive down and pick it up but then later say you have a US address to ship it to.

I'm sure this is all 100% legit and I'm in no way saying there is anything shady going one at all on your part but, I can see how a seller might be a little weary. Some sellers have been burned in the past and are very strict is how they sell and who they sell to. Scammers tend to change up the terms they agree to and sometimes ask for items to be shipped to an address that is not theirs. They then claim they never got it.

Again, not saying this is you. Just trying to consider where the seller might be coming from?

That being said, the seller should respond in some way.

Yea I definitely understand, and I don't hold any hard feelings for the member. I just really want the knife! I haven't had as much time to be around here as I'm a full time student and I work, but totally makes sense. At the end of the day it's up to the seller so

Yea I understand. I meant it in the way I have a US shipping address I can ship it to and then go down and pick it up from there. Probably should clarify better in the future

Canadian alert! :O

Nobody respond! :D

I can understand why the Seller is staying clear of you- How many of these "Getting Ignored" Threads have you opened?

One other thing, if you have a knife you might want to sell, list it and get some feedback. That will go a long way. That and a Gold Membership.

I opened two, I accidentally posted this one first in the wrong forum then tried to post it in the right one. I'm sorry if I'm doing the wrong thing just trying to learn right and wrong on the forum. Apologies in advance

A couple of things to consider:

You may have "insulted" the seller by offering just a little bit less than an already discounted selling price. In an open market like this, consider the effects of what might be looked upon as "low balling".

Many knives listed for sale on the Exchange are cross listed. That knife could already be long since sold elsewhere and in the hands of a new owner.

People put a lot of stock in feedback and many sellers (and buyers) won't even deal without a positive feedback rating. Maybe buy a few inexpensive knives and establish a reputation before trying to buy a knife costing a few hundred $. Likewise, a paid membership might help.

Good luck!
