So I've got a few busses. I was wanting some feedback from people who have had there's buffed out I guess. You know taken from combat grade coating to a mirror shine. I think it would look 100% better and from what I understand is easier to take care of. As appossed to a blade with worn coating. Also does anyone have any recommendations on people who perform these kind of services who could do a good job and not ruin my 300 dollar knife. Any info on this subject would be greatly appreciated thanks alot.

ban. just look around here and you'll see plenty of awesome work by ban.
that said, you could do it yourself without too much trouble. just takes a while. strip the coating, and lots of sanding

It's best to pay to have it done by a pro if either the machining marks are deep or if you just don't feel like doing the work. If you have to take it down too much you might make something uneven :p I've done that on a couple swedges and at the plunge.

Pretty much all the blades are uneven to some extent so you'll have to sand it down good before polishing it up...otherwise you'll have some dull spots and some shiny spots :p. And if you decide you've got the time and the elbow grease, take it slow and easy....you can only take it off once :p can't put it back :D

I would highly recommend his work if you wanted a mirror polish!:D

Hey Venomblade, that ASH1 is amazing that really looks good.
Is Tinbasher a member here?

Venom, That ASH1 is stunning...
Wow.. It makes me want to bite the bullet and buy my first ASH1...

Wow those look really good. So I think do to my budget and that I'm still gonna use it. Maybe I don't need a mirror edge just a nice satin edge.

Yep, I believe Tinbasher is a member. He really does some quality work, he did the handles as well. This Knife was originally ASH-1 LE #64, Tinbasher even managed to keep the logo and number showing after the polish process(as seen below). Making this a very unique ASH-1 LE.:D

Cheers,

Only a registered user But Thanks for the plug Venomblade it may be a little costly for the USA members to send the blades down under for a polish.

Besides Tinbasher will be kept more than busy with us Aussies thanks...that's what you all have Ban for :)

LOL,I take what I can get, need to fund a few tools to make my job easy.As a registered user I am not allowed to drum up work here.

great job tinbasher! Was that all hand sanded?

It took about 3hrs a side to remove all the satin finish marks with 600 wet/dry then it was put on a buff with white compound ,the logo was protected with Aluminium tape then right at the end was hand polished with a metal polish called Reflections.
