I was wondering what the best way is to get your knives to the show is. yes you can put them in your checked bag is that what you do or is there a better way what do you do thanks

Dave,

We always put ours in a rolling waterproof Pelican hard case with a handgun. When you declare your firearm they only search it once, in your presence, and then ask you to lock it back up and it stays that way. Then if some TSA nerd wants to get fingerprints all over them they have to do it in front of you. They also don't tend to 'loose' luggage that contains a weapon, it comes out at the special luggage desk. Keep a close eye though, we've had it pop out on the regular belt as well once.

I Fed Ex'ed my knives last year. I just sent it to the Fed Ex store there in the hotel and it was there waiting for me when I got there. From what I am told there are a good number of people that Fed Ex or UPS them in. I had the tracking number so I knew when they got there and I just called the place and they put thier hand on the box and told me they were for sure there. I dont know if it is the best way but it worked well for me so I will do it again this year.

Last year I packed my test knives and other crap up in a box and Fed-Exed it to the hotel. Showed up there, checked it and they brought out my package - perfect as can be. No stress. Sold most of everything, so I didn't have to bring it back or ship it back :-) I do remember hearing that one of those hotels does have a "mail room" or was that "male room." Don't know for sure, but might want to limber up before you go in...

I live 15 minutes away from the show and am there from Thursday afternoon on.

Have handled knives for a lot (a whole bunch) of makers over the years and have even had a few of what turned out to be "best of's" pass through the goat ranch.

If I can help, let me know. I just take delivery of the knives (and responsibility once they are in my hands) and give the unopened package to folks as they arrive on Thursday or Friday morning.

Not a big deal at all to me, so I would be glad to help out. The only thing I have ever struggled with is not opening the package. :D ( But after so many years, that does not even bother me now.)

David, I have fedex'd for years to the show to be there on the day I arrived.. Airline will only insure to a max generally quite a bit less than what the actual value was and it is costly. Fedex with CIA insurance is the best and cheapest way to go.

I'd FedEx to the hotel, not the venue. Things disappear in all the confusion, and the people working there know that lots of knives will be arriving.

Gus (Bastid) helps a lot of makers out for Blade. It's great of him to do it every year.
