Getting me a 124

So I decided to break down and pick me up a 124. Cant wait for it to arrive. My old 124 (and 120) were stolen years ago and there has been a large void in my collection ever since but that should soon come to an end. I do have a question though, does the micarta on the current 124's get darker the more it's held/used? I know some micarta will darken with use which would be a plus with this knife. My old 124 had what I believe were rosewood handles so Im not familiar with Buck's micarta.

Oils tend to make it darker. DM

Thanks DM much appreciated. I think I'll try olive oil. Cant wait for the knife to get here. Been so long since I held me a 124.

I used mineral oil in the past, it works well, Olive oil will work too and it'll moisturize your hands. :thumbup:

Congratulations on your new purchase! I'd recommend mineral oil as olive and just about any other vegetable oil will go rancid.

I used Lemon oil on my Micarta handled 124. works great.
