I've been staring and drooling over everyone's XM's for the past several months now. I couldn't have been more pleased to find out they sell to the military/Leo community. Rob said the next batch out is the 3" in June then 4" and 3.5" to follow by summer. I know I want a spanto flipper, I know I want to upgrade the scales and all my knives are hard workers no shelf sitters and I have my initials and dates engraved on all my knives so they can be passed down to my family in the future. For those out there rockin the xm-18's what's the overall opinion on the best looking scales. I've checked em out on the sight a hundred times but until it's in hand you can never truelly judge!!

I've never owned a flipper or custom knife, my go to edc pocket knife has been a sog X-ray vision since 2002 so I'm pretty stoked!!

Questions like these can start religious wars. ;)

I feel your joy. I got my first a month or so ago. I have already collected a few different scales. This week I am leaning towards OD Green. I may have Blue by the end of the week. Textured Carbon Fiber may be the real sleeper though. It is all good. Enjoy the ride.

On a Hinderer Rescue Orange is a very cool color, Battleship Grey and FDE (flat dark earth) are my 2nd favorites.

BTW You said you wanted a Spanto, are they making also 3" Spanto's, as far as I know there are only Slicer grinds in this batch ?

i beleive you are correct on the 3" slicer grind, that is the info Rob provided to me. I really wanted spanto, but could not pass on the slicer anyhow.

I asked in my email and about when they'd be going into production, his response was about 3 months worth after June's knife show, so may not be, one can hope though

Well I have a xm3.5 flipper spanto w textured cf. it's not light. It fits my hand well. I have a zt 561 as well and it's a bit large for me but I'm 5'6 and typically wear a lg glove because I have a wide hand. As a reference the protech tr3 fits perfectly in my hand. The xm 18 3.5 is slightly larger I don't think I'd be happy with the 3 in I am quite happy with my knife. I thought I'd sell trade the textured cf scale but I have put off making that decision. I'd like one with ti scales.
