I bought a Case Chestnut trapper in chrome vanadium and it came with a chip in the blade.I don't feel like sending it back, paying for shipping, and then waiting to recieve it so I'm planning on getting it out myself.I have a few questions and they are:

1.I have a spyderco sharpmaker and I have the medium, fine, and ultra fine rods.Would the medium, fine, and ultra fine rods be enough to get a small chip out or would I need the diamond stones?

2.If I do need the diamond stones to get the chip out, what are the pros/cons of the diamond rods? and how many strokes/how much pressure should I use on the diamond rods before going to the medium, fine, and ultrafine rods?

Please answer this and thanks for takeing time to read it.

I would just wrap some 320 grit wetdry automotive sandpaper around the sharpmaker rods to work that chip out then finish up with the medium and fine rods. Cheaper alternative than the diamond rods.
