I'm just sick lately. I have misplaced or someone has helped themselves to a few nice blades in my collection lately and I find that I am naked. I have the following that have grown legs somehow:

Benchmade: 806D2, 710, 705, 556
Emerson Mach One
Syderco Dodo

My collection is pretty thin these days. I can't believe that I just lost 6 blades so besides finding out who took them, I am in need of an EDC, that won't scare the hell out of the sheeple. I want a folder with a solid lock that I can buy at a street price of around $75. I can't aford to keep having someone walk around with nice blades in their pocket. I suspect one or more of my kids friends, but no one is allowed in the house at this point.

Now to the matter of a replacement. I'm down to carrying a Microtech Kestral made is 1999 and I would rather put it in the safe and carry something else. Not that it has great value, but I still don't want to donate it, if you know what I mean.

Open to all suggestions. Looking for a solid locking decent steel and can forget about flash at this price point. I just can't carry a $30 blade in my pocket, it's a matter of principal.

Thanks for your help.

Rick

I'm sorry to hear that. Nothing hurts more than the theft of a nice knife, if only because the theif has no idea the value of their spoils.

I know how that goes.A friend stole a cheap balisong and a smith and wesson skinner as well as a cheap-o fixed blade.A little word of advice: Keep the location of high end knives a secret to avoid them growin legs and exlporeing the world (-:

They are all going in the safe these days with the firearms, but it bothers me more than most people will know.

Still looking for some suggestions for something inexpensive for an EDC.

The recent FG Spyderco Lum Chiinese Folders in VG-10 are pretty reasonably priced and very sheeple friendly. Get them while they're available. I believe Tom Berry has one for sale at a good price right now.

That sucks. Big time. My knives (all but two) were stolen back in the mid-90's, and it's the worst feeling in the world, especially when the little b@$t@rd$ who took them probably have no idea of the sentimental value & stories of what they lifted. :grumpy:

thx - cpr

the 806 that hurtz,,,,,,,,sorry bout it.

Just looked on Ebay to try and replace the 806 D2, there were two for sale - one at $349 and another for $390 - now I'm all pissed all over again.

I looked at the Lum folder, I do still have a fixed blade Lum tanto in the safe, the others should have been there too. That folder looks nice and not too expensive. It's just everytime I start to shop for a new blade I miss the old ones. It's as bad as starting to date again after breaking up with a woman - this process sucks.

Just saw a RAM end on Ebay for $52 including shipping, that price pt is nice if it grows legs but hopefully that won't happen again.
