Getting ready to order a Rucki....

I received my first Swamp Rat, a RMD, about a month ago. While I am pleased with the knife, it did come with a duller edge than I would have preferred. It wasn't a big deal, as I planned on sharpening it myself anyway. Now that I want to order a Rucki, however, I would rather have that come sharp from the factory, as it's a much larger blade that will require far more work to sharpen. My question is, with what edge angle does a Rucki normally ship? I'm told that I can request a keener edge, and I may do so if their default setting is not to my liking. Any knowledge on this matter would be appreciated.

I have 3 and they are all relatively sharp. The one that i'm keeping has been stropped, and it took seconds to make it shaving sharp.

Don't know the angle, but it's not as obtuse as the one on my gladius was.

What color combo are you gonna order?

I bought 2 when they were first offered and they arrived very sharp with a pointy tip as well. I never thought to measure the angle. It slices paper and such with absolutely no issue. As do my hawks. I was surprised how sharp my KDSH was.

Don't know if anything I just posted helps, but if you decide the Rucki is something you want...just request at time of order that it come as sharp as possible. Be polite and you never know, you might get exactly what you ask for.

Ask them when you order to send you the sharpest one they have. I did that for the second Warden I ordered and Eric took care of me. The folks at the Swamp.

Awesome. Thanks for the replies!

I am thinking of going with the tanker grey blade and orange scales, by the way.

I'm actually pretty impressed with the attainable sharpness of the steel. The factory edge had a shaving sharp bevel in some spots, and rough in others, but after a run on the belt sander, it took an insainely sharp edge--easily sharper than any knife I own (considering it was still like a 40 degree edge). Even after chopping with it, the edge was still just as sharp as it was when I finished stropping it. The 1311 will likely have just as great an edge--that two weeks can't come soon enough...

I'm still trying to decide whether i'm willing to sharpen my Rucki. The tip is so pointy that i'm afraid i'd accidently grind it off
