At anodizing that is... finally got my setup dialed in. Knocked these out today and I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. The spots on the knife scale are from the rain (gotta love the Pacific Northwest). I may start offering this as a service here in the near future.

Good job. Post some pics when you get the knives assembled.

I have always wanted to learn how to anodize. Looks good. Save for the spots. Why did rain get on these ?
The reason I ask about the rain is if I ever get into anodizing, I live in the pacific northwest as well, Oregon gets rain. Although I would prefer to do it indoors if possible.

How are you anodizing this?
Is that Titanium, Aluminum, Steel coated in TiNi?

When you do offer this as a service I may send you some things to Anodize :P
I really like that rainbow anodizing effect on some things too, if you were able to do that with a good color range you would definitely have business from me - assuming your prices are fair compared to others.

The rain got on them because I was taking pictures outside so I would have better lighting. Once the titanium dries it's a non-issue (as you can see in the assembled pics of the knife and keybar).

Ahh, ok, the way it sounded and looked was that rain got on them before anodizing and somehow caused the spotting to occur :P

Do you know when you might be offering anodizing services?

I'm probably going to do some anodizing for free in the near future (you pay shipping both ways) so I can get some more pics and get the word out on the quality of my work.

Brass doesn't anodize.
The OP still hasn't answered the question- is this aluminum anodizing, heat anodizing?
What is the process?

It's titanium. Anodizing titanium is accomplished by varying the voltage between 10-150 volts DC while submerging the titanium in an electrolyte solution. The pieces above were acid etched before anodizing so that the colors would come out consistent and vibrant.

Oh yeah. I can do the high voltage colors now. These will be for a GAW on here and Instagram when I'm finished with them.

Question for anyone in thread who knows this. Can you laser engrave anodized titanium with a laser engraver that can not engrave into steel only the coating?

The knife above was done with a Co2 laser engraver

Does anodizing void a zt warranty ? Depending on that I may have a couple if you want to play around with them
