Getting rid of knives?

I've been 'collecting' knives since I was a teenager, and in the past few years have finally had the money to start buying 'nice' knives. I find that I have a whole bunch of old knives that I'm running out of space to keep, and am trying to decide what to do with them. Is there a good way to get rid of that $20 crappy folder I impluse bought at a flea market 10 years ago? How about that 8 in "stainless" dagger I picked up one day? Some of them are still decent knives, but due to room I'm just trying to clean up, and not sure that getting a gold membership and selling them for $10 is worth the effort. Is there a "knives for soldiers" that I can mail them to, or just save the trouble and dump them in the trash. Thanks.

Dave

Buy the Gold and put them up in groups at a nice price. Somebody will snap them up if the price is right!

You might be able to liquidate them at a pawn shop. You'll get more money on ebay or the trade forum, but that is a lot of time photographing, packing, shipping, etc.

I am sure there are programs for gifts to soldiers, care packages, etc. A.G. Russell has a program, but I doubt they need knives for that one. You could try googling for them. It's hard to imagine that a soldier would be without a good knife to begin with, though. It's not like it's Valley Forge over there (AFAIK).

Rat, most of them aren't "crappy," but more along the lines of basic. I've been over to the desert several times and they're better then most people are carrying for their day to day stuff. Definitely better then the crap I was issued the two times they decided to give me a knife.

Jill and Absintheur, the single lot idea is one that hadn't occured to me, I'll have to try that one. Thanks much.

Selling them one by one will bring more money as long as you boost the ship cost a bit. But as mentioned before it will take some extra time and work. "Basic" knives sometimes don't do too well in large lots.

if you don't need the money for something specific try this, put them in one lot and trade them on the forum for something you want. selling knives is not as much fun as trading and you may come out with something you want. doesn't cost anything to try. good luck

Dave - Find a Boy Scout troop in the area, and give them to the Scout Master. There is always a few needy boys in the troop. They will be appreciated. :)
