Getting rid of loctite from a Spyderco Yojimbo 2

I just recently purchased a Yojimbo 2 from a member here on the forums, and it seems to be in almost from-factory condition. While trying to adjust the pivot, I noticed that it was the only screw(s) that were loctited. I have heard of using a soldering iron to heat up the loctite and get the screw loose, but wouldn't that begin to melt the G10 handle scales? I don't want to try and use all of my force in breaking the loctite, as I just had a catastrophe with a Kershaw RJ1 and getting stripped screws.

And anyone who might have this knife, is there a specific side I should attempt to loosen? Both sides of the knife handle has screw heads.

Use common sense as far as how long you keep the soldering iron on the screw. G-10 can take quite a bit of heat, but you shouldn't get it anywhere near those temps. FWIW, I just loosened my pivot , which had never been tinkered with, without any heating or issue.

Try holding the iron on the screw for around 5-10 seconds at time to see if you can get it loose. As KNaB mentioned, just don't leave it on for too long.
