I have some tools made out of a mysterious "government steel" that I'd like to have tested and figure out exactly what it is. Anyone know of a place that would do that? Cheaper is preferred. :o

should be a lots of sources in detriot [motor city].i do'nt think it's going to be cheap since equipment to do this is high tech.

only the government knows

a full spectrum test costs $90 at most places btw. though if i can see pictures of a spark test i'd have a rough idea of what's in the steel.

So I made a call and he said it's "713 something stainless" and "a moly based steel."

Can anyone tell me about 700 series stainless steel? :)
