I have a good friend from Thailand and he will be going home to visit family for a few weeks in september.
I am having him grab me an Aranyik K1 enep
like this

and one crafted by Boonhome in one of the the northern provinces (if he can get it)
from what little information i can find he generally only sells to locals.
also through research i found his differential heat treat is fantastic and the process comes from tai goo.
this is an image of it.

what is the market like on these?
if he were to get extras is the demand decent?

I'm loving mine! I posted a few pics recently here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...with-Enep!-(a-few-pics-inside)?highlight=enep

Pricing was amazing to me: 6 bucks for the Aranik which is killer. You can't find them for sale often in the states. Condor makes an attempt at the E-nep, but the pattern is off and they go for 55-60 bucks.

If your buddy is like mine they may not be blade nerds like us. Tell them to get one for themselves, they will not find a blade like it for the same price here.

Only issue I'm having is they don't come with sheaths, you will have to get one made.

Here's mine.

Where did you aquire your enep? My friend is having his father ask around but aparently boonhome is a pretty common name.

he may be getting extras, not sure though. if he does I will be unloading them for him when he returns.
when that happens i will post in the exchange

You need to get a Gold or platinum membership. If you are a dealer than you need to declare yourself and pay your dues. Trying to get sneaky will just cause you problems in the long run.

Mine was purchased by a friend of mine who lived in Thailand.

He had to travel way up into the mountains to get to the maker.

I understand it was quite an ordeal.

Of course this was quite a few years back.

The maker is the same as the one you posted, and he is indeed known for his quality heat treatment.

Well, Aranyik actually has a US distributor(okay, so it's one dude in Hawaii) and they sell through the website, so you can usually get them there. They've unfortunately sold out for the year, but that's not the norm for them. I've never been to Thailand in my life, but I have a K-1 enep along with several other Aranyik blades(and have one more order in the works, got it in before the rest of their product was bought up). I can't link to the Aranyik site since they're not a registered dealer here, but a Google or Youtube search should find it. Won't be nearly as cheap as getting them in Thailand though...

Man ! I really want an Aranyik K-1 and one of his Latin machetes, but I cant find them for sale ANYWHERE. He used to sell them on Amazon, but I haven't seen any for a long time.

He sells them through his website now. I've bought several things from him in the past(including a K-1 and a Latin), and have an order that should be heading out to me soon as well. Unfortunately, shortly after I placed my order, his entire stock for the remainder of the year was bought out, so you're out of luck until next year.

The half-tang E-nep at the bottom is stamped "Maradog Pa". It's a little difficult to translate, but basically the meaning is "Inheritance from Your father". As in something your father would give to you when he died. A fitting brand and stamp. It is very common and most Thai knife collectors have handled or owned one. A search on the stamping will turn up a wealth of information: มรดกพ่อ
