Hello everyone,
This is my first post to this forum, well, any forum for that matter, so I am still trying to get the hang of things. I am the lady of a very active gold member, and he is the reason I made this account. Admittedly at first I wasn't very interested in knives. It was after my man started learning about knives and teaching me, that my curiosity surged. I still don't know much about knives but I am working on changing that.

My knife collection is small, consisting of three knives. By far I would have to say my favorite is my Kershaw Clash, with serrations. Although it is cheap, I can't help but love how it fits, and the way the liner lock flips into play, to me, is the smoothest I've experienced thus far.

Would anyone happen to have some useful advice for navigating the forum? Id also like to hear your opinions on your favorite knives as well!

Thanks for reading!

As far as navigating goes, I'd just suggest starting on the main forum page and skimming over all of the sections, especially if there are any brands you're especially interested in that have their own dedicated sub-forums. There's a lot of more detailed info and discussion in some of those, depending on what you're after. Just stay away from the Exchange unless you're really good at resisting temptation!

Favorite knives? Personally, I have a bad habit of being fascinated by discontinued models and then spending entirely too much time (and usually money) tracking them down. Being that I'm not a "high roller" like some forum members, I gravitate toward knives I can realistically expect to carry with me on any given day, so I've become rather partial to Kershaw and Zero Tolerance.

Summed up pretty much perfect on navigating forums.

I started with kershaw, and that habit morphed into a more hardcore habit of ZTs....

Welcome to Bladeforums!

Depending on your interests, some of the sub-forums may be more useful or intriguing than others. I tend to gravitate more towards the Maintenance, Tinkering & Embellishment forum, a couple of the Manufacturing forums, and of course the General forum. I've spent very little time in some of the others ones here.

It's great that you have a shared interest with your significant other--it allows you to handle more knives than you might otherwise if you were starting out from scratch. I think you'll find over time that your taste in knives will change - mine certainly did - so trying out his knives may save you quite a bit of money in figuring out just what you like. Nowadays I tend to prefer CRK's and Spyderco's and am more interested in steels with good fine edge retention vs. overall edge retention. I'm desperately trying not to spend hundreds of dollars adding Japanese kitchen knives to my cooking arsenal.

For someone just starting out, I'd give the following advice: don't buy a lot knives right off the bat until you figure out what you like, learn to sharpen as any knife will eventually go dull, don't let anyone tell you that you'll only like certain knives just because you are female, and take the time to enjoy and use your knives.

Welcome....Lots of good info in these hallowed halls..Too many knives to have a favourite, sadly.Have a look around and be sure to check out the Traditional forum.Be careful you might like it there?......Fes
