Hey guys. I'm getting started on learning on how to make leather sheaths. To help get me started I bought the "Basic Leathercraft Kit" from Tandy leather. I figured this would help get me started and give me some tools. Was this a good idea as far as making sheaths? Looking through everything I'm kinda wondering if it will be of help with actually making them, but I think even if it isn't that big of a help, it will still help me make some pretty cool designs on the sheaths. :p

I would strongly recommend you get back to Tandy and get you this book. It's a great one to get started on and you'll always refer to it as long as you're working with leather.
Al shows you how to make several styles of sheaths among many other things.
Techniques in here you can apply to many projects..

Go here http://www.ccinstructionalvideos.com/ and get the video by Chuck Burrows. He will teach loads of information and he tells you and shows you everything you need to know to make sheaths. And it is the best 35 bucks you will ever spend in leatherworking. Good luck.

I second the video recommendation. I had made a few sheaths before I bought it but just seeing an accomplished maker at work refined my methods and really was invaluable to actually learning the basics.
