Excuse the OT, but my wife snapped this picture of me with my 3-year-old nephew during his initiation to the ancient and revered sport of fishing a couple of weekends ago. I've had it on my desktop for the past few days because I couldn't quite get it out of my mind and wasn't quite sure why--can't see the faces, and there's no action captured in the moment. I've come to think it's because this photo could be of just about any man sharing those first moments of anticipation at the water's edge with a beloved youngster. Love those "everyman" shots.

That is a great picture Will and thank you for sharing it.

I remember the first time I took my daughter fishing. We were on the bank of the French Broad river and after about two minutes of fishing without any action she layed her pole down and got in the river and sat down. Priceless moments, gotta love em!!!

Great pic! I really miss the times when I had time and possibilities to go fishing...:( I really loved it.
But next year I'll get back to this sport as I promised to myself !!! :)

Lovely picture....it says a great deal....like you said....an "everyman" moment...the passing on of knowledge and skills....very symbolic...very cool:thumbup:

Pictures like that give me hope that future generations will still love and respect the great outdoors... Great Pic and thanks for sharing!

I still remember the first time my Dad took me fishing. Great memory!

Warm fuzzies all around -- thanks guys, glad you enjoyed it.

(Robin, somehow I don't think you mind too much being considered "one of the guys", although your feminine perspective here is always a treat, so thank you specifically for your nice words. As a tender and generous human being as well as an experienced connoisseur of fine blades, your willingness to share your thoughts is always appreciated.)
