Getting the 14 ready (PIC HEAVY)

With the new zytel scales on the way from Tomars, I need to get my 14 ready for it's new dress shirt. So I stripped my Eskabar tonight and threw on a quick patina. It turned out ok. The only place I could do the strip was outside for proper ventilation and it was a little cold so it didn't strip super easy, but I ended up liking how it looked with some coating left on the handle, so I just tried to make sure I got as much as possible off of the blade. This was my first time and was mostly just a learning experience for me, an experiment.

Here it is getting stripped. Used Klean Strip Paste.

Close to the end of sanding.

First I threw it in between lime slices with some sriracha on the blade.

Everyone stops for a mid-patina sandwich, right?

Then into Worcestershire sauce soaked paper towel with mustard.

Almost done for the night.

End Product. I'm gonna throw the orange scales on it when they gets here, maybe buy it some orange kydex pants. There's some spots that turn up looking like rust in the pictures but in real life they're more like blue/brown, the color rendering on my camera is just kind of crappy.

All I have to do now is sharpen her back up.

Way to go! Finish looks awesome. Can't wait to see the new scales on it. I have some work to do on my eskabar too. Life can sidetrack a guy right quick.

that patina is great, looks like galvanized metal roofing! I approve ;)

Im still waiting on my zytel too...ORAAAAAAAAAAANGE!!!!!!!

Just requested a quote from Godspeed for some orange kydex. Should look neat with the new orange zytel scales and a black lanyard.
