The handle had an odd feel for me at first and is taking some getting used to. Figured getting it out was the best way to find out what I think about it.

Few comparison shots with 2 Koyote's, a Fiddleback and my War Dog...

With this handle design, I had to see if the little fella could chop- didn't do bad! The Koyote beat it 9 to 11 and the War Dog was better too, but the Rat did well!

And at the end of this little work out- sr101 holds a good edge!

And just because...

Well...I had every intention of cooking up a bunch of veggies and lots of different things....then the Sunday lazies hit...

So I did break it out on steak, bacon and onion for a dinner of rice and beans. Even though it felt like a brick going through the whole onion, I was pleasantly surprised that it was able to do some fine cuts on the onions after.

I'm not sure what I think of it so far. Seems better as I use it vs when I'm just holding it getting a feel for it. We'll see!

Anything can make fuzz sticks out of green wood. That doesn't really do you any good though.

Great pics rpn ! Very good comparison shots, too. Great to see a Rodent 4 out in the field....top stuff ! :)

Actually Andrew, after a week of working my butt off in a psych hospital and managing two young kids all week- an hour outside in the fresh spring air (doing whatever) with great blades does me a world of good! :D

Thanks Magoo! I could tell the grind is a winner. Looks to be a nice all-rounder in this size range. I think it's going to do well in the kitchen tomorrow...

Something I look for is the ability to cut deep and do fine fine cuts with ease and good control- like on stakes. Not all the knives I try can do it and the 4 does it very well!

Great shots man! Thanks for taking the time to post those. I just got my Rodent 4 too, and I love it! Dare I say...I might like it more than the Ratmandu :foot:

Hey great shots and write up. And Anytime outdoors is worth while, plus those Fuzz sticks look great!

Great pics. Congrats on your R4. Glad to see you getting out and showing it some love.

Good review. I appreciate the pics, mostly the comparison pics....still not convinced tho. That handle hump....what's it for?

Thick blades just don't do well on onions IME. Thanks for the spine shot. I had no idea that these were contoured.
