I had to process a bunch of split wood down into kindling for my wood stove so I figured it was a good time to put her to work and see how I like her.

I didn't get into any chopping, only batoning but it went well. The handle is VERY comfortable and she made short work of the kindling. I look forward to taking her out on some camping trips when the weather warms up.

That camp knife sure is purty. That stove is pretty cool too. Enjoy your camp knife.

LOL, I used that excuse once to buy a camp knife, but the wood stove runs 24/7. I still have a box of fat wood that I purchased five years ago that is 3/4 full. I think I have used 4 pieces this season. Two to start it the first time, and my wife and I went to see my son and family a couple weeks back and let the stove go out. I used two pieces to start it back up. I might go through some more when the weather starts warming up during the day, but the nights require a fire.

Great pics! Thanks for posting. We need more camp knife in action photos posted. That goes for the other big fiddles as well.

That camp knife and the sheath are very nice.

This stove is not my primary source of heat and it is small. That aside the rest of my family is not so good about feeding it, I have to get her going about every other day.

I am getting a lot of practice building a nice top down fire though :)

I got the Camp Knife before the stove though, my only excuse was that I had to have it! I used the stove as an excuse to get a nice Axe and a new maul

Beautiful knife! That handle combo is awesome. The Camp knife is definitely on my want list!

I have the GB American Felling Axe, GB Maul, GB Forest Axe, Husky Splitting Axe, two Stihl chainsaws and a hydraulic wood splitter that I actually use to make firewood for the stove. I usually get the maul and the splitting axe out in late winter to help burn off the winter fat though, and I do not have enough split to get me all the way through. Our backup heat source is an oil hot air central system. I started burning wood seriously about 5 or 6 years ago for two reasons. One, the gypsy moths killed a bunch of oak trees around here, and two, the price of heating oil went through the roof. I was too old to go back into the Corps to go over and fight the terrorist, but I'll be darned if I had to support them financially through purchasing heating oil. But I have to tell you, it takes a lot of wood to heat 3,200 sq. ft. My life is broken down into two seasons, firewood making season and firewood burning season.

Great Camp Knife pics!!! I think I'm going to use one as my only blade for a 3 day, 2 night trip this weekend. Man, you have a pretty one, there!

I am jealous too! ;)

We are going to need pics of that, sounds like a perfect oppurtunity to wail on a Camp Knife.
