Anybody know where in the Los Angeles area I can see one of these kukhuris for sale. I am wanting to buy one but I'd really like to see and handle a knife before I buy it... Thanks

I don't think that either HI or GH have store locations. You might try posting in the respective forums and see if somebody is close enough to meet with and see thier's. Alternately you might ask Bill about mailling you one on speculation. If you like it send him a check, don't like it send him the khukri back.

Ya, Bill does that. He's a "pusher"

I'd highly recommend Bill, the company owned by his father-in-law directly owns and operates the newer shop (Shop2) where they're made, and that's the direction they're going as they expand. HI is actually a Nepalese company owned by a former Gorka vet...you can't get more authentic than that nor can you beat their having true on-site quality control. Bill is the "US marketing and distribution side of the biz"...it should have been named "Himalayan EXports"

Rhett,

Both Bill (HI) and Craig (GH) operate on "satisfaction guaranteed or money back." GH is less in price, not as highly finished as HI but seems to perform as well (at least mine do). You need to give an idea what you want a khukuri to do and either gentlemen, or their respective fans, can give you a recommendation.

GH and HI khukuri's are the real deal and great buys for the money right now in the knife world. Problem is to avoid getting addicted...

Whatever you decide, welcome to the khukuri family! As sing says, it's easy to get addicted

I can recommend HI- I have the 15" Ang Khola and it is everything I wanted it to be. Now I need a bigger one... :-)
