I am just starting to make ghillie suits. I would like to take orders from you guys and make them for you. I have one small problem, I have to figure out a knife carring system to use with it. Any ideas? Or would you like one made for you. Please let me know. Thanks. Gunner.

I've made a few of them for hunters. The story I've heard is a ghillie is a name for british gamekeepers and they used the suits to hide from the poachers.. It would consist of strips of fabric being sewed to hang down and move with the wind making it flow with the leaves and natural movement of the brush. I made them in a modified poncho style so anything carried was carried in the usual way under the poncho.

Ghillie suit's are extremly personal and hard to make, I have friends that spent way over 100 hours making theirs and they never even finished. It all depends on what features you are going to be incorprating into them, are they 1 piece or 2, Camel Back compatable is a must, Knee and elbow padding another must. What kind of material are they made out of, canvas seems to be best for low crawling but it is terible for walking.

Check out these other links for more ideas on what you want your Ghillies to have. http://www.marinescoutsniper.com/ http://www.snipercountry.com/ http://www.cybersniper.com/ http://members.aol.com/m21sws/sniper.html

And this is one place that also makes them http://members.aol.com/m21sws/Ghillies.html

There is a very nice system available for a reasonable price which consists of a fanny packed suit which can be deployed quickly when needed but carried easily when not needed (as a fanny pack). If anyone's interested I'll provide additional info.

Gunner,

Unfortunately this thread's subject matter doesn't belong in the Blade Discussion forum. I really don't think it fits in any of the Tactics & Training forums either. so.... to Community it goes.

There is another site that does discuss all things sniper that you might try too, that being:
