I just got my first 15 inch, 1/2 inch thick, and 2 1/2 inch wide Ghopte! I have not tested it out yet but from the feel it should be a good chopper. This khukuri is the closest to having a flat "ground" blade I've seen. It is really an odd looking khukuri but it's looks are growing on me! It also has finger grooves on the chiruwa handle with all steel fittings. As soon as I can test her out I'll make a post on her performence.

Has anyone else tested this model out yet? From what I've heard the Ghopte was born from Sanu imagination...I think!:)

I think Wrongfriend has a Ghopte ... is it a 12 incher?

I am thinking of having a heavyweight 12" Ghopte ... about 1 lb ... what a weird idea ... :D ...!!!

A new Ghopte owner! Welcome to minority, SkagSig40...

I have a 12" Ghopte. It's very useful for daily chores because of its compactness, needless to say its toughness as an HI khukuri. But the reason why I ordered it was primarily MA purpose. I was going to learn a knife fighting where thrusting was almost ignored. My idea then, was that a khukuri could perform better in slashing and pull-cutting by trading off point penetration. I threw a question to HI forum about forward curving khukuris, and got many informations from forumites. Among Malla, 18 century, and Ghopte (FCK family), Ghopte looked least pointy, I thought it was more dedicated to cutting ability. It was. And more than that by Sanu's good job. It serves not only in MA practice but also for daily chores.

I'd like to see how good a 15 incher looks like. Really appreciate if you can post a pic of it! IMHO, if Ghopte has more chance of exposuer, it can be one of HI regular lineup... at least, a pic on HI site.

Hi Wrongfriend, I'll try to get a pix sent to Uncle Bill ASAP along with my new Tin Chirra!!!!:)

Some of my pals came to be fond of Ghoptes when we held a small khonvention last month. There are however too little source of Ghopte variety of overall length, weight, balance point, handle length, etc. Skag's pix will not only entertain my eyes but also be great help for their choice!

After the small khonvention, some got interested in BAS, some others in Sirupati. How about AKs? Eh, those who want it had already got one!
