I received the khuk that I ordered the other day. Uncle Bill had it listed as "a ghopte?" I'm not sure what it is...sort of looks like a hybrid between a ghopte, AK and WWII. I guess that really makes it one of a kind. But the real story is the scabbard...WOW! Talk about well done and classy. I have not received a scabbard as nice as this one. The person who made this really knows what they're doing. I wonder if someone new is making scabbards for the kamis? The other scabbards I have are good, but this one is just way far and above in quality, IMO. And I like the look of the brown leather. Does anyone else have this type of scabbard? I guess it's buffalo?
As a side note: I mentioned the other day that I ordered an 18" Chitlangi for a young man stationed on the DMZ and that what I received was a beautiful 15 oz. blade by Bura. It hit me while driving home yesterday that the blade was not made by Bura, but rather Sher. I checked it out as soon as I got home and sure enough. This is the first khuk I've seen by Sher and now I know what everyone is always talking about. I should have guessed when the handle really fit my hand. Bura's handles are sometimes on the small side for me. I am going to make an effort to see more of Sher's work. We all have our favorites, but he ranks right up there IMO.
