I just noticed that you are from Lexington, I love that area! It's been awhile since I've been down there...sure miss it. Last time I was in KY I visited Perryville. My great, great, grandpapppy fought and was wounded there in "The Cornfield".

I just got this yesterday. John from Jk knives made it for me. Sorry for the bad photo, I don't have my camera with me or my computer.

Thanks Jack!

Kentucky is a beautiful state. I had some family visiting awhile back and drove them down Paris Pike from Lexington into Paris. The drive and the scenery is almost surreal, especially on a bright spring day. A photographer's dream. They couldn't believe it, and talk about it all the time. The trees here in the fall will blow your mind.

I had never heard of that particular battle. Googled it. Very interesting read. I've been to Blue Licks battlefield, which is just a few miles up the road. They do the re-enactments there all the time. Must have been so terrifying for all involved.

Thanks for what you said about my knives. I sure try hard with what little I have.

Great knife Mr. Sogetsu. I am a sucker for that ghost jade green G-10.

Josh,

Last time I was in KY, was in October a number of years ago. If I remember correctly, there was over 8000 casualties at Perryville. I've got some grape shot from Perryville. Wicked stuff.

That's just insane to think about. 8000 guys. Damn. Back then, if you were wounded pretty bad you might as well had them kill you, or you wanted them to. I've seen the grape shot in some of the little museums around here. You're right, just plain nasty. When I was a kid, I found a cannonball in the woods near my house in Paris, Ky. It now sits out in my mom's flower bed. I'm gonna search and see if any battles were around here.

I know right!? My great, great grandpappy was left for dead at Perryville. He survived because maggots got into his wound and ate the bacteria.

Must have been pretty cool to find a cannon ball...Wow! If I remember correctly, the brochures at Perryville state that some of the trees there still have markings from bullets, and some of the limestone is still stained with blood.
