looking at buying one of these khukuri's but am new to the game so can someone check out these picks and tell me what is a good buy! and how much should pay for them.

See second posting for images

the second and third images the seller states were bought in Katmandu in market
the larger one is 27cm from tip to start of handle with matching numbers to smaller knives and the smaller of the two is 22cm and smaller knives do not match.

the seller says this about the 1st pic "Traditional cow horn handle and steel blade. Comes in a pouch made of cow hide and tin and engraved on both the pouch, handle and the blade. All hand made. There is also another tiny knife that fits inside the pouch as well. Very much a collectors item. Is from the 1800's.

Genuine Nepalese Soldier's weapon. Two sharpening knives, are contained in the scabbard, with the Khukri.

The last pic seller says this "Khukri was given to me by the British Army-Gurkha unit, in the British Solomon Islands -1970. This Unit was on Jungle
Training and munitions disposal ops.
It was in this work I gave assistance." and "Gurkha Knife has no serial number. Has Nepal identity, and what I believe to be , Regiment no. I do not know history pre 1970, as this weapon is Army issue" Regiment 87th

What says you guys!
:confused:

Hello Foxy, There all recent production items. { Although to be fair ,The bone handle & nickel brass scabbard one might be up to 40 years old, definatly not 19th century! though!}

But its unusable junk of no historical value.

Each Cost about $10 max. In Kathmando market at tourist prices.

The Gorkha army one is a well known tourist fake.

The bottom one might be real Brit issue, but evryone copies & makes them, its hard to tell without close examination & as the seller is already prooved a liar, I woudnt assume hes telling the truth about this one.

They all might do to chop very thin kindling from thin slow grown pine offcuts, but they are not good examples of either users or collectabiles.

Id give them a wide bearth.

No problem foxy...welcome!

Shuffling threads is pretty much what I do around here since they hid my broom and don't let me sweep up any more.
