Are GI angle head flashlights any good? how many lumens are they approx? any good for camping duty?

If you want that style of light, you'd be better off looking at something like a Pelican little Ed LED. I don't have one, but all my other pelicans have been great, and their warranty is pretty good too. Pelicans don't have all the fancy features of other lights, as they put the money into being hazardous environment certified. I think zebra light makes some 90 degree lights as well.

For the cost of a GI light you could get any of the lower end reputable lights, which would be much better quality. Fenix E series are an option. I like headlamps, and the black diamond Gizmo, Spot and Storm are all great lights, depending on your budget. It all just goes on up from there.

They are heavy, eat batteries quickly, and the bulbs burn out easy. A long time ago, they were better than most, but now, a LED Maglight or Surefire beats the snot outta them

If you want a quality light that is kind of the modern day equivalent of the old angle head lights, check out the Streamlight Sidewinder.

Maratac just released an "angled" version of their great AA light. It is like a mini sized LED version of the old classic GI flashlight.
