I am just looking for a tank of a knife I am well aware of the busse and scrapyard knives but none are available. I have a BK-9 but is there anything under 320 that is maybe a bit bigger or has better steel? I wanted a dog father but I cannot find one.

I like the Tops Armageddon but it is 1095 and I am thinking spending an extra 100 might get me better steel.

check out the ESEE Junglas.

There was a Dogfather LE on the exchange a few days ago new condition for $260. They come up fairly often, if that is the knife you want you can defiantly find one pretty quickly here.

Good Luck,
Adam

The ESEE junglas and Tops Armageddon are the same length with the junglas being thinner but what knife has the better HT?

I see some Scrapyard dogfathers on the exchange every once in a while. You might be able to find a Busse Sarsquach for that price. Another big chopper is the Swamprat Chopwieler. I see them on the exchange every once in a while. Try the wanted to buy section, I bet you will get someone who will sell one to you in there.

Chopweiler and Dog father which would you say has better still for the giant 10 inch knife design?

I was going to recommend that you take a look at the ESEE Junglas...but at least 3 people beat me to it already.

At shows the Busse B11 is roughly 297, one the exchange, about 320, give or take.

Grayman knives wouldn't be bad either. I've been looking at those for a long while and 320 can get you a very large Grayman, their bigger knives (excluding the ones made out of S30V) are 255. Most of their knives are a quater inch thick and made of 1095

Yeah they are worth considering, junglas has the same warranty and is cheaper but those knives are huge and free sharpening etc.

Anyone know of a even bigger knife? say 12inch+? I know machete but I dont know many that are knife shaped and 1/4 inch thick.

Somebody was selling an older RTAK here on the forums a few days back and less than a C note too. Look on flea bay for decent bargains too. keepem sharp

Probably the best one in that price range would be the CS Trail Master. If you are willing to spend more you could get the Fehrman Extreme Judgement, no production large chopper is better than that.

Good luck,

BabyJWuu :)

Hey babyJ, the Trail Master you linked is SK-5 high carbon. Comparable to the 1095, and the Fehrman is $550, so that is $200 over the budget. Try again.

I like 1095 better than SK5. SK5 is the same as 1080 carbon, I believe, or is it 1085? One or the others.

For $320, myself, I'd be talking to one of the custom makers that hangs out on here. A lot of them will work from your designs, so you could have exactly what you want. Also, many of them have extremely large knives as part of their offerings to begin with.

The heat treat on ESEE knives is exelent. It is done by Rowen and it is one of the best heat treats. Get the Junglas.
