Curious if anyone has experience with this knife or read any good reviews about it? It seems really slick, but I cant tell if it would be too small. My other main worry is the opening mechanism. Can you open with one hand? Wish it had either a flipper or a thumbstud, but it just has an old school slot for like finger nail opening method. Would love some feedback as I am looking at them, but without seeing one in person its hard to pull the trigger given the price point too.

You can open it one-handed applying pressure to the blade at the thumb nick. It's very smooth, but obviously not as foolproof in opening one-handed as an auto or flipper or thumb stud or hole. It's a slicer and not a heavy duty knife. The blade is very thin.

Oh ok cool. Thank you for that! Good to know, it seemed very hard to open but I guess with practice it would get easier. Also thanks for the heads up on the thin blade, I was actually looking for that and think it would be nice as a slicer, definitely looks more like that rather than a heavy user.

I have a GMP7. I was also very curious about the one-handed opening, but it's actually not that hard to do, you just won't be doing it super duper fast because it's more of a fine motor skill. You use the nail nick for friction but are also applying lateral pressure to the blade, and there's nothing really holding your thumb on like there would be with a Spyderhole or a thumb stud or disc. The liner lock on mine was surprisingly good for a GiantMouse (I was disappointed with my ACE Grand lockup). Lock up was perfect, disengagement was smooth without stickiness at all. Really it's a gent's knife that's got a lot more in common with a CRK Mnandi than with an Umnumzaan in terms of design and function, so as long as you recognize this is a pure cutting knife that will not stand up to prying with the tip, spine whack tests with a 4-lb mallet, or compete with auto knives for deployment speed, then I doubt you'll be disappointed.

This is exactly the feedback I was looking for. Seems like what I had envisioned it to be like is pretty spot on. I might actually move to get one if the funds and opportunity permit because I am looking for a more classy and easy use knife and this seems to be a good fit.
Thanks again!

I'll probably let my GMP7 go. Looking back I would have gotten the regular one instead. Mine went back to GiantMouse for warranty service (really patchy PVD coating on the blade), which meant it had to go back to Reate in China, then it was the Chinese New Year, so here we are nearly two months later, and I don't have my knife back yet (Now, in fairness, GM had communicated up front about this, I'm not knocking them - nothing else they can do when they have no spares on a sold-out run and warranty service requires sending it back to China). The regular one wouldn't have had this issue because the blade isn't coated in the first place.

I imagine you'll also want to be careful opening it with one hand. Mine was practically a razor blade in thinness and sharpness, so some care is warranted if you're going to open it by pressing on the side of the blade so that when you rotate it open you don't run your finger along the edge. That'd bite you but good...

I picked one up when it was released - because I thought it looked pretty cool as a blend between an ethnic traditional knife and modern materials.

I wear M gloves for reference. Great fit and finish (to be expected for the price.)

The one hand opening needs a bit of a knack (not too difficult), you have to press the nail nick down at just the right angle and right spot to overcome the detente action - as mentioned it's not designed to be fast or as reliable as a spydie hole or an Emerson thumb disc, but it works. It wouldn't be my SD carry choice. I thought of adding an aftermarket thumb stud but that would ruin the aesthetics!

Basically it's a very light, slim and pointy "gentleman's" knife - I'm not really into overbuilt knives that weigh over 6oz in the pocket, so this is perfect.

That's a good picture. It's a long but slender knife, and this shows that pretty well.

Thanks fellas!
This was super helpful. That pic is really nice representation of it in hand. I appreciate that a lot!
