Got the GiantMouse GM4 in last week, and figured I'd share my recent experiences with her.
I was fiending for this one the moment I saw pics and specs - I really love 'little big knives', and having been curious to try a GM folder. I took a GMF1 backpacking last summer, and was really impressed with it, plus I tend to like Vox and Anso designs generally, so this has been something I've been looking forward to for a while.
First, sizewise the GM4 belongs in the same family as the Spyderco Techno (another 'little big knife'), and reminds me a lot of a higher-end Malyshev Gnome (minus finger choil). It's a little bigger than either of em though. The handle is pretty short, and allows for a good 3.5 finger grip but not a full 4 unless you choke up and use the front of the flipper tab as a sort of finger choil.
The blade is a pretty robust 4mm thick, which is usually thicker than I like for edc, as I like my edc knives to slice well. However, the blade is pretty tall, and the height plus ffg equates to a very capable slicer, which pleasantly surprised me. Apples don't split, as they would with most 4mm blade stocks.
The flipping action is good - flips snappily, and with decent speed. Detent strength is about medium, although it was definitely stronger when I first received the knife. It needed a little breaking in initially, but is now super smooth.
The fit and finish is just awesome on the GM4. Tolerances are super tight, and details like the crowned blade spine, and blue ano'd clip, backspacer, and pivot ring make for a beautiful knife. The contoured handles are really well done, and they fill my hand nicely while still carrying slim in the pocket. Clip has good retention, and looks good, but does leave a lot of knife exposed.
In short, this knife is an awesome edc, and I highly recommend copping one.
