I recently finished a Bowie that has a story but I wont spend much time on that right now. Let's just say it has some cool iron meteorite in the blade as well as a section that was sliced from it to show the pattern found in meteorites. With it well known that iron is relatively soft, I need to say that I took great effort to insure the carbon content was plenty high enough to make a blade that performs. The name "Gibeon Bowie" is from the name of the large meteorite ("The Gibeon Anvil")from which came the slice of material.

This is the slice of the meteorite with the cuts laid out.

This is where I got the material. Again, there is a story but it may have to be told later.

Very cool. Do you know how much those big Gibeons are worth nowadays?

Awesome knife and cool materials. I'm interested on the story too.

Love the handle work. That looks great.

Fantastic bowie, great story. Really well done, Lin. This is my kinda knife.

So tasteful, so much interest so subtly presented, and all works so well. And so obviously a Rhea creation. To me, that's a very special package.

That is Just beautiful Lin There is some really cool stuff going on with that handle it looks like you had a lot of fun making this one

Fantastic! :)

That meteorite sells for up to $40 per gram.....454 grams in a pound and figure it's basically iron so that 'boulder' in the picture would be astronomical....no pun intended. ;)

Beautiful!!
Cant wait to hear the story (hint, hint;))
Super interesting background to the meteorite being used as a prehistoric anvil and to see the items made of it (skulls, rings, watch dials etc etc)!!!!!!!!!!!!!
EDIT More interesting info on this and other meteorite knives on Steve Arnolds fb site - steve arnolds meteorites.
Further more it seems that the Gibeon meteorite is from a 'strewn field of meteorites' named after the nearest town in Namibia.
Different sized meteorites from the 7o miles long field have been found and some were worked into tools through time

I will echo everyone else's words........and use spectacular to top it off!!

that's a super cool knife, Lin. It has kind of a sci fi look to it, some kind of Geiger-esque attributes that I can't really put my finger on right now. The portal within the handle really brings out that effect, but also the rings carved around the handle bounded by coined spacers. Very very cool.

Again, LR, Roger and I agree. That is a beautiful knife and I think the one I enjoy the most of any I have seen from you. It is a most enjoyable knife to look at and I'm sure equal in the hand. Thanks for showing us this fine piece of art.

Gorgeous piece Lin!!! :)

This is one of the nicest/best looking ways to utilize meteorite in a knife that I have ever seen.

Thank you for sharing!!! (and please add me to the list of guys that would like to hear the full story!) :)

Seems like every new Bowie I see from you becomes my favorite, which is the case here.
Outstanding in design, execution and materials.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

That's a stately looking piece, and the meteorite inclusion gives it even more character.

Chuck's work is crystal clear and enhancing. Bravo.

Drumming my fingers for the rest of the story..... ;)
