My father recently became interested in knives and has purchased a few including Spyderco, Swamp Rat, and Scrap Yard.

I wanted to get him something for his collection for Christmas but wasn't sure what he would want. Browsing a knife store the other day, I ran across a limited edition Benchmade that the sales person said would be a good gift, so I bought it. Now, of course, I'm questioning the decision.

Could someone let me know if this is a quality knife or something I should return before embarassing myself by gifting it?

It's a very good production knife as long as he doesn't think it's to big. It's by no means junk.

Dude........... That knife is the cat$ a$$ , Gold class benchmade. Give with confidence my friend! :D

That's an amazing knife that any fan of production knives would be happy to have in his collection. I would love one myself.

Depending on the actuall knives he has purchased, that gold class BM probably out does most of the knives he owns.

Not a single thing to worry about.

What you've got there is the Extra-fancy version of the most-recommended $120 framelock folder on these forums.

The feedback on the regular mini-skirmish is amazing, and having handled one, I really like it. You've got the limited edition, no-holds-barred pimped version. As long as the overall shape isn't too out there for your father (and a man that owns a spyderco shouldn't be offended by the mini-skirmish's curves), then he should be FLOORED.

And if he doesn't like it, hook him up with my address, I'll take it!

You bought the very top notch class of one of the best production knives company. I would definitely be happy with such a knife

Only thing that may bother you - some may argue that at prices of gold class benchmades you can get a custom.
Maybe if you would post a price you bought the BM for, we may suggest you other possible choices for the money, and then you can consider wheter you like something else better.

I agree, you did really good!! Like has been said, any fan of production knives will LOVE that!!

Personnally i would never drop such a coin for a benchmade just because i don''t think they are worth it, For the price of a gold series you could pick up a sebenza, strider some customs...

It is a top quality knife. You will not embarass yourself. Your father will enjoy it.

Ya done good.

I like gold class Benchmades more than Striders and Sebenzas (hell, I like blue class benchmades more than those, for the most part). You have a point about customs, but at this price point, it's hard to get a custom knife this pretty (even if it is nonetheless awesome, ala xm18). Furthermore, this knife is pretty dang rare, and if his dad's becoming a collector, that'll be a valuable aspect. To quote an old professor "You can't swing a dead cat without hitting a sebenza owner."

It's a good pick Deano, and actually, this thread really got me interested in the 635-60. Hehe, I'm the proud owner of #119! No, its not a Sebbie...no, it's not a true custom, but dang, it's a sweet knife. It's oh so pretty, fnf is oh so tight, and the potential for price appreciation and the overall collectability were big factors. The downside to it...well, my gf got it for me for Christmas, so I can't officially play with it until that day. So all I do for short periods throughout the day is stare at the stupid box under the tree. Dang!! But anyways, Deano, I'm just gonna reiterate everyone elses replies. YOU DONE GOOD!!!

could you tell me where you got it, i have to visit the site!!!!
i can bet it will be by far the best present he will receive on the 25th
