How old is your cousin? What does he/she do for a living? What are his/her hobbies? What is your budget?

I would not put a lot of money into a knife that your cousin may not like in the long run. I would look at a FRN Spyderco Dragonfly. This is a knife that is actually useful. The Spyderco Cat is also a great choice. If you want non-locking, look at a Pingo.

Small carbon fiber sebenza. If he/she doesn't like it, send it my way.

What will he use it for (EDC, work tool, hunting/fishing, camping, bushcraft, home utility, kitchen/cooking, collecting/admiring, etc.)?

What style does he like (old-school traditional or modern tactical)?

And what do you want to spend (under $50, $50-100, sky's the limit)?

RAT 2 for a budget under 30, Delica 4 for a budget under 60, Manix LW for a budget under 80, Griptilian for under 100. If you can afford it, a BM Contego would make a great gift as well.

under 50 and for edc and he doesn't seem to prefer anything over another but hes 14 so probably leaning towards tacticool

Ontario Rat 1 or Utilitac 2. The Utilitac is bit more tactical as its avail in a tanto blade or Re-curve blade with a scalloped swedge. The Rat 1 is more proven though and has a much larger stop-pin. Either will be great for a 14 year old and are around $30

I know when I was 14 I'd have a loved a 24" Tramontina bush machete. Get the poly handles.

Well since it's my cousin i'd probably give him a big bag of rat poison so he would ingest them like pop rocks since he stole my car and sold it for meth. But anybody elses cuz would say used BM 556/551, Delica/Endura, Becker 11 , 24 ,2. There's lots of good knife options.

Get him a Kershaw OD-1 or Blur blem. The blur will be more 'tacticool'... but the OD-1 has their nifty overdrive flipper which is fun to sit and play with. Kershawguy.com usually has blems of both for around that price. There's always any of the Kershaw Cryo variants if you'd prefer a non-blem so that it comes in a box. The new Kershaw Emerson collaborations would be great too. They've got the nifty Emerson wave feature that deploys the blade as you remove the knife from your pocket. I'd have loved to receive one when I was 14.

While I don't condone purchasing counterfeit knives, buying a few cheap chinese knives like Enlans, Gonzos, Sanrenmu (?) Etc. might not be a bad way to start. Getting a few with different features(lockback, liner/frame lock, axis lock, thumb hole, stud, etc) will let him experiment and decide what he likes in a knife. Then later he or you can purchase a higher quality piece that's exactly what he wants.

One of my favorite inexpensive folders is the SOG Salute. The rainforest site has them for considerably cheaper than any store I've seen them in, well below your $50 for sure. I have two of `em, and both are as sharp and mechanically solid as I could hope for. Useful blade shape and length, excellent deep-carry clip, and - most importantly - a lockback design to prevent youthful shenanigans causing the loss of one or more fingers trying to get cute with a liner or frame lock.

I second the Ontario Utilitac recommendation. Very solid knife at a great price point.
