My Dad is does not carry a knife anymore, I'd like to fix that. Back in the day he used to carry a 3 bladed whatchamacallit. I've been looking at the
S & M 3 bladed whatchamacallit and it sure is pretty but it's neary twice the cost of a similar offering from Case. My Dad won't likely appreciate the difference.

Which whatchamacallit would you choose???

Well, you've certainly come to the right place. It's good to see that at least some folks pay attention to what we are all about here.

;)

On a more serious note, about what size do you think you'd want to get? In a three blade the 3318 or 6318 would be pretty easy to carry and offers a lot of functionality.

Actually the 2 knives I'm considering are 3.5 (or so) stockmans. I want get him the S n M, because, in my eyes, it'll be special. Don't get me wrong, I've had a Case stockman before and I loved it. The S n M just looks nicer. I doubt he will care which I choose.

I've only one S & M stockman, a Series IX which is one of my absolute favorite production knives. I'm sure he'll be thrilled with whatever you choose.

S&M is really nice and even nicer if you can get the dealer to pick you out one that's already sharp.

If you think he'd appreciate a change in pattern, I just got a Case Swayback Jack that is staggeringly nice and didn't cost much comparatively...$60.

I was in a similar situation and got a yellow Case stockman for my wife's Uncle. He was stoked. Nice thing about Dads...he'll be happy with whatever you get like Elliot says.

Thought about Queen Cutlery's Medium Stockman 26 at all? Comes in Amber Bone or Zebra wood. A Whittler is also another 3 blade choice and fits the pocket very well.

If you like the Schatt & Morgan Stockman you might want to at least consider a S&M Railsplitter. 3 5/8 inches closed.

Thanks for the resonses guys, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I have picked the Case Medium Stockman with Amber Bone. It's a nice knife that probably falls in line with what Dad imagines a "nice knife" to look like. I think the size is a little more pocketable too.

Hey Rick where's the Winterbottom??? Thanks for the picks.

Paul

That's a good choice, Paul. Good size, nice bone and plenty of utility. It's hard to beat a stockman.

Nice choice! Please be sure to let us know what Dad says, and it the gift gets him back to toting a knife regularly.

You are right it's VERY pocketable and Amber Bone gets better with carry(what doesn't?)
