I have a son in the Army and he is looking at being deployed in the spring,I am looking for a realy good tactical knife for him for Christmas. I MOD ATAC but am not sure.I havn't had any luck finding any reviews of this knife. Any sugestions would be very helpful.

Both my son and daughter-in-law were stationed in beautiful Baghdad for 18 months. I sent them both a automatic Microtech MSE-SC which was small enough to carry. He mainly used his army issued knife-bayonet (lot more knife than bayonet) for most chores like opening doors (house and car). All the troops in his unit carried almost exactly the same weapons and equipment except for folders. I guess that way everyone was very familiar with all the weaponry.

Tell him to watch out for camel spiders!!!

Best of luck to him. Let me know if I can be of any help with anything. My son and wife are now back in Germany.

Since he'll be issued the bayonet/prybar and I'd be supprised if he didn't already have a multi-tool, the only blade left is a folder.

Even if he already has a one-hand opening folder with a pocket clip, we all would love a better one! The Spyderco Paramilitary is a beauty!

I'm sure the guys here can come up with a many more suggestions.

If my dad (WWII Vet...artillery) gave me any of these I would have freaked! He passed on while I was there. My Gramps was a blacksmith and I have to say I like "real steel" I don't trust the stainless de-joure O1 1085 1095 5160 52100 etc...with a fine heat treat IMO will out tough Stainless. If your young lad is S.E. Asia LRP (Long Range Patrol) then he will either knock the rust off or live with it...a little patina never hurt the ones you write home about!

Blessings to your son, I wish I were there again...(I'm bent)
