Gift idea for a runner?

Check to see if he has a training software program to track mileage and performance data. PC Coach has a few here. Some will download parameters from Polaris monitors.

You might also consider nutritional and recovery supplements like GU or Endurox Rx.

Bare-bones Camelbak hydration system.
Or, a bucket and some foot-soak stuff! (epsom salts???) :D

Hmm. I like the Camelback Idea. Hell, I've got one I can regift! ;)

Consider buying a bright, reflective safety vest. I use it when I walk along country roads, especially at night.

If you cannot locate the industrial kind locally, you can buy smaller safety vests at bicycle stores.

if he doesn't have a GPS watch, it would be an excellent gift. The Garmin 101 is just in your price range. What a fantastic thing to own if you run.

How about a Spyderco Salt I? They are light weight, can be comfortably carried iwb, and are completely impervious to rusting/staining from sweat.

I carry a Pacific Salt in my Hydrapack while mountain biking and take it with me while surf kayaking.

Get him a gift certificate at a good athletic shoe store. Yeah, it's not a gadget, but runners always need shoes.
