Okay so I'm moving away this month, I enlisted in the navy like I have always wanted to. I'm leaving some really close friends behind and I feel that it'd be appropriate to give them a small gift. For two of these friends a knife would be a great gift, as much as I'd love to buy them enduras, I'm kind of budgeted. So on a tight budget, what would you recomend? I'm trying not to go over $80 for two knives.
Oh and they need to be single bladed, locking, one handed deployment with a pocket clip.

I've given away several leeks. There's a lot of variety and they are pretty easy to find for 30 bucks or less.

Vic Farmers.

Excellent knives that are appropriate in almost any setting.

But since they have to be locking and all that... Why not look into a rat 1 or 2, or the utilitac 2?

You are aware of the the old superstition that when giving a knife to a friend that person should give you a coin in return, otherwise the friendship will be broken.

First off God bless you and protect you in your service.

Now, for the blades: look into the Buck Vantage line, either the Select or Avid models should be easy for you to get for your price range. The models are a little different between handle material and steel used. The Avid IMO is the nicer model. They are made in the USA, quality steel and heat treat, amazing warranty, and customer service.

Here are both models, the plain black handled version is the Select.

Go to kershawguy.com go can get two nice Kershaws for that price like two blurs or leeks. He has many models to pick from

Let me elaborate, the ignitor has a unique "lock closed" mechanism so that when caring it you don't have any accidental pocket fires. Super cool. You just push a button that is on the end of the thumb stud and give it a push. Freakin quick action spring assistance. Good blade. Holds an edge. Comes factory razor sharp. I own a few different crkt models and I have to say. .... I'm very impressed with fit and finish and over all general quality. Especially for the price point. Do yourself a favor and at least check them out.

Rat 1 is about the same price and much more useful in general, IMO, than the RAT 2.
I have several of each. Both are nice.

Kershawguy has red Blurs for $43 right now. It's just a tad over your stated limit, but if you are willing to go a little over, I think those would make great gifts. The Skyline is another great EDC blade. You can get the plain blade for just over $40, or the blackwashed blade for a couple bucks more. Leeks of various colors are around the same price (just over $40). The Injection 3.0. or 3.5 are also great knives that are under $40 each.

The RAT-1 and RAT-2 are nice knives as well, although I'd recommend the RAT-1 if you were to pick one of those. The ESEE Zancudo is another interesting knife. If you go with a Vantage, I'd suggest the Vantage Avid over the Select.
