As some of you might remember from one of my posts in Carl's story "Tighe and the old knife" I am a high school Agriculture teacher with a few students who appreciate working tools. Well I am looking for two CASE knives to give to them as graduation gifts for their hard work and their all-around good nature.

The other day I noticed that one of these young men was carrying his new clip knife and asked him what happened to his Magnum Mini Tapper. He told me his grandfather had given him that knife and he was not doing too well so rather than beat it up or lose it he put it up and began to carry the clip knife.

The other young man came to me friday telling me how his Case, Large, Yeller Stockman fell out of his pocket while in the auditorium that morning, and how he thought the teacher was going to freak out cause he had a knife. Now this young man is probably one of the most intelligent and well mannered students I have had the pleasure of teaching.

Now to the help part. I am pretty sure I need a trapper of some sort, and more than likely a large stockman. But I can not make up my mind on SS v. CV or Bone v. Synthetic. Also if you have any suggestions of possible patterns that may serve them better please let me know.

Thanks for your time and your help. Now to save up a bit of cash so I can afford this endeavor.

I use a full sized Trapper most every day. I have a couple of stockmans. But my trappers spend more time in the pocket. I really like the longer blades on them. My vote goes to a chestnut, or red, bone full size trapper in CV.

CASE yellow Pen-Knife is surprisingly capable and a very tidy pocket knife for a student, cv or ss here.

The Mini Trapper with Wharncliffe makes a nice change too as does the Texas Jack. I've got the cv one in Amber but I'm really impressed with the ss Olive Bone one I got last week. It's a new release and really beautiful, pinched&lined bolsters too. None of these knives are expensive but all decent.

Böker Germany, do some decent stuff these days, various Stockman, Trapper, Canoe and not expensive either.

Nice gesture of yours too to show appreciation, it won't be forgotten by your pupils, ever.

A Case CV mini trapper with yellow handles. One of my favorite patterns - a "normal" trapper is too big and heavy for everyday wear, as far as I'm concerned. Their CV is great, takes a great edge, and as long as you take minimal care of it, it won't rust. ANd yellow handles are just classic (and easy to spot if you drop them).
