I made this for a co workers brother's birthday. 1080 & 15N20, stainless, Black micarta and Australian ringed Gidgee.

Let me know what you think.

Hi Joe,

The shape is exceptional, truly....you have a great eye. Sheath looks really nice as well.

Because the tang rusts on carbon steel, if you haven't made this a frame handle, you might consider doing so in the future.

If I was gonna be particularly picky, lol, the makers mark IMO, would look better closer to the handle, it's a bit visually jarring where you have placed it.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

This is a really a fine piece.
Design, material selection, fit/finish and overall execution appears top notch.
It's one of those pieces that really makes one wish they could grab it off the page and hold it in their hand.

Even though I realize it would require additional effort thus most likely higher cost, a tapered tang would have taken this piece to an ever higher level.

That is a fine looking knife. It's one of those that stands on it's simple lines, which are superb, good fit, and appropriate materials instead of the fine embellishments.

I suspect its a full tang instead of frame. Is that so. If so, maybe you could show a top view where the guard meets blade?

Thanks Steven. You're right about tang. I usually blue or etch them, but this looked real nice polished, so I left it alone.

I like the frame handle idea, I can certainly see that in my future.

I'm having trouble deciding on what my makers mark should be. As you've seen on the knife I made for you, I added just the logo and not my full name. I've been doing both depending on my mood that day or if it will actually fit. Where I placed it on this knife was the only area the whole thing would fit as it is quite large for clarity's sake.

What do you think?

Also, thank you Kevin and Lin for the kind remarks. I totally agree Kevin. A tapered tang is another facet I'm working towards but have been a little apprehensive to pull the trigger on.

Lin...It is a full tang, lightened with many holes. This photo is the only one of the spine I have as the knife is no longer in my possession.

I thought so. I saw the black spacer swing under the tang. Guard fits in a notch and pins. Good job. This is good, solid knife making. The clean lines are a bonus.

Thanks again Lin. It means a lot to me coming from a maker of your caliber.
