Gill Hibben, re-elected president of the Knifemakers Guild,
celebrated his 75th birthday at the 2010 Guild Show and was
surprised with a huge cake and everyone in the hall singing
"Happy Birthday...".

Edmund was quick with his camera, as usual!

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Nice, Gil's crazy fantasy knives are a big part of what got me into knives when I was little.

Happy birthday!

Hello All: This years Knife Makers Guild Show was for my part the best Guild Show i have attended since 1991....We had several really Kool things happen such as our knife making friend Bill Luckett creating and donating a combat knife to the first active duty soldier that came through the show doors...Then we shared Gil Hibben's birthday cake after we sang happy birthday to him....Friday morning at our annual business meeting that took place on the 10th floor Dr. David Darom who Flew 8000 miles from Jerusalem Israel received the Nate Posner Award for all the enormous effort he has put into his fantastic Art Knife Books that have propelled Knife books into the stratosphere.
The show traffic overall was steady and knife sales were good considering the economy....Our very own Stan Wilson made and donated a fantastic Folder that was won by a very lucky Man Mr. Steve Sterling....At the end of the show one lucky Maker won a free table for next years show and one more lucky maker won 2 or 3 room nights free for next years show....Let us hope next year can be this good or better. All the Best, Edmund.

any chance there is a picture somewhere of the knife used to cut that cake?:)

That water from the Ohio River seems to be good for growing good guys and making great knives. Congratulations...!!!

An already-legendary maker, I wish him many more productive (or restful!) years.

I like Gil. :)

Gil was unamimously re-elected to his third term as President of the Guild. Vice President Wayne Hensly and two directors were also re-elected. That was a strong vote of confidence in the leadership and direction of the Guild. The knife industry is very lucky to have Gil and all he has done for the industry both out front and behind the scenes. The Guild is very lucky to have his leadership. May he continue to lead, teach and inspire for many years to come.

Congratulations to Gil and hope he has MANY more birthdays to celebrate.

His accomplishments transcend the knife community and they are impressive.

Peter
