Good afternoon,
I am inquiring about a Gil Hibben signed limited edition #UC850. This unit is inside a glass case and displayed with a black leather sheath.
Anyone have any ideas on this item.

The UC in the item number sounds like it was a United Cutlery (sp?) product.

It's my understanding most Gil Hibben's UC stuff is for looks only, not for use and probably not worth anything close for what they sell for.

Here's a pic I found using google. Looks like it retails for around $125, actual value is a good question:

That looks like the ticket Dave. That was quick. I've been looking for this blade for quite some time. Must not have put the right query in when I did. I realize it's not a "real" blade per se, however, it has intrinsic value to me and to someone.
Thanks again. Now if I can just find out what they want for this booger, I'll be that much further ahead. I've seen no one offering it for sale and I've been trying to acquire.

I just entered the search terms:
UB850 knife

into google and it spit out some results, if you want to pay retail you could see if the commerical sites that come up on the search still have it.

This particular model is the "Warbird Fantasy Dagger". It is part of a series of Gil Hibben designs put out every year by United Cutlery and they were made in Taiwan. The Warbird came out in 1995, the Raptor in 1994, the Raven in 1993...

I used to collect this series of knives but the last one I bought was the Warbird model. Afterwards they just became too gaudy with multiple blades...

Mine didn't come with a display case-I suppose the case was something that was purchased separately.

It's marked "Signature Edition First Production Run January 1995" on one side of the blade and has the serial # "2019/7500" on the other. It has Gil Hibben's autograph on the sheath. Only the First Production Run of each series would have the autographed sheath.

I believe the price was about $200 Canadian when I bought it in February 1995. It's quite sharp and a person has to watch out for jabs from the points on the flame blade design.

Even though I have graduated to purchasing better quality knives I don't think I would sell it.

To DaveH.
Many thanks for your assistance in this. Not being a guru of this medium, I tried a number of ways to get where you got me to. Unfortunately, I didn't try just typing in the Model number. Again, many thanks for your assistance in this.
To Nash the Slash,
Thanks for the information on it, it has helped immensely. The one I've been looking at is marked "2004/7500" on the back of the blade. I didn't notice if the sheath was signed. I'll have to take another look at the one the fellow is offering.
Again, many thanks to you both. I'm new (obviously) at this and it helps to have some expert help.

I'm betting the op is now dead, and his family has sold off his collection of Klingon knives. This was from 2003, welcome to Blade Forums, we can introduce you to a whole new world of fixed blades and folding knives.
